In March of this year, a joint evaluation team from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Hong Kong College of Surgeons conducted a re-evaluation of the general surgery professional physician base at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital and gave high praise. On October 28th, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital officially signed a tripartite memorandum with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Hong Kong College of Surgeons, granting the hospital the qualification of a general surgery professional physician training center. The School of Clinical Medical of Tsinghua University (Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital) was first certified as a surgical physician training base of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh/Hong Kong College of Surgeons in 2020. Over the past four years, the hospital has provided more than 10 trainees for this project. The hospital has adopted the mature surgical training system and strict assessment system of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, further enhancing the comprehensive level and quality of Tsinghua’s surgical residents.
Professor Rowan PARKS, Chairman of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh; Professor Jianmin Zhu, Chairman of the Hong Kong College of Surgeons, and Honorary Secretary Dr. Riming Hu; Academician Jiahong Dong, Dean of the School of Clinical Medical, Tsinghua University and President of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital; Fang Liu, Director of the Educaiton Office of the School Clinical Medical, Tsinghua University and Director of the Educaiton Department of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital; Vice Director Chunmei Song; Project Leader and Director of the Surgical Residency Base Bin Luo , as well as project tutors and trainees, attended the meeting.
In his welcome speech, Jiahong Dong thanked the two institutions for their re-certification. He emphasized that every Tsinghua Changgung person bears the mission and responsibility of promoting the development of Tsinghua Medicine, and he encouraged young doctors to better engage in medical studies, adding a unique touch of Tsinghua Medicine to the long-standing Edinburgh General Surgery Base.
Rowan PARKS and Jianmin Zhu spoke respectively, highly affirming Tsinghua Medicine and the operational work of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital as a training base in the past, and looking forward to more long-term cooperation and development in the future.
At the meeting, Rowan PARKS, Jianmin Zhu, and Jiahong Dong signed the tripartite memorandum on behalf of their respective hospitals and unveiled the plaque for the training center. After the ceremony, the three parties discussed the subsequent operation and deployment of the base.
