Dr. John P. Williams, Chairman of Department of Anesthesiology of UPMC, visited Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital on 25-26th March, 2014. Vice Secretary Zhihua Wang from Tsinghua University, Vice President Bai Lu from Medical School of Tsinghua University, Vice CEO Yuehong Zhou and Vice President Zhong Wang from Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital (BTCH) received our guest together.

　　Dr. Williams made an excellent speech on Clinical, Educational, Administrative, and Research Methods at U.S. Academic Medical Centers. He introduced four levels of system integration, which are organizational integration, financial integration, clinical integration and information integration. Then taking UPMC for examples, he elaborated the current condition of UMPC from administrative, clinical, educational and research aspects respectively. He pointed out that cooperation between UPMC and BTCH could bring benefits from various aspects like quality, management, specialized care and so on. Vice CEO Yuehong Zhou introduced the current conditions of BTCH for Williams. After that, meeting participants consulted cooperative details together. On 26th, with the company of Yongwei Pan, Dean of Orthopedics Department, Williams visited BTCH and shared his opinions about hospital cooperation and development with Vice President Zhong Wang.

　　Dr. Williams has become Chairman of Department of Anesthesiology of UPMC since 2002. During his tenure, he enlarged and enhanced the scope and size of the Department of Anesthesiology from clinical, educational and research aspects. He has wide experience in international business development and has acquired significant accomplishments. This visiting has an active impact on our hospital’s internationalization.
